What’s new in ReelUse
for Mac and Windows.

Every version of the app, newest first. It is a free public beta and updates itself. Download it here.

25 October 2026

Version 1.0.23

  • On a Mac, the menu bar at the top of the screen now has Check for Updates, Settings, New Talk, Library and ReelUse Help.
  • If an update cannot finish, Try again now starts it over, so you no longer need to close and reopen the app.

24 October 2026

Version 1.0.22

  • Caption settings in the app now match the website: one card with Words, Colors, your style's own settings, Position and Shadow, a box to type exact values, and Use style default on each group.

24 October 2026

Version 1.0.21

  • Captions in the Sora font now come out bold in your clips, the same as in the Branding preview.
  • If you upload your own caption font, the Branding preview in the app now shows it.

23 October 2026

Version 1.0.20

  • Sign in with your email and password, or ask for a 6-digit code by email and type it in. No browser needed.
  • Continue with Google is on the sign-in screen, and lets you choose which Google account to use.
  • The app always signs in to the account you choose in the app, never to whoever your browser happens to be signed in as.
  • New to ReelUse? Ask for a code and we set up your account right there in the app.

22 October 2026

Version 1.0.19

  • Your clips are ready sooner. The app moves straight on to the next clip the moment one is finished, and on a powerful computer it makes three at a time.
  • Everything in the app responds faster, including Save, because it no longer pauses for several seconds before each task.
  • The first time you open this version, give it a few extra seconds to get ready.

22 October 2026

Version 1.0.18

  • Music you turn on in Branding is now added to clips made on your computer. Until now those clips came out without it.
  • The ending you set in Branding is now added to those clips too.

21 October 2026

Version 1.0.17

  • A talk you add from a YouTube link is now named after the video in your library, instead of "youtube".
  • Looks you make or change on the website now show in the app when you press Refresh or come back to it, without restarting.

20 October 2026

Version 1.0.16

  • On a Mac, a talk keeps going when the app is behind other windows or minimised, so you can work on something else while it runs.
  • A brief connection problem while the moments are being picked no longer fails the run.

20 October 2026

Version 1.0.15

  • Groundwork for steadier framing, so the frame stays on the person speaking when the camera angle changes.
  • Nothing changes in how you use the app.

19 October 2026

Version 1.0.14

  • Running two talks at once no longer leaves clips stuck on the way to your library.
  • Clips still on their way to your library carry on uploading when you next open the app.
  • A run that is still sending its clips is no longer shown as Stopped.
  • Finish it sends clips already made instead of making them again.
  • Every clip made on your computer can now be trimmed on the website, by you or your team.
  • A YouTube link that will not download is tried again, and a run our servers take over shows its progress in the app.

19 October 2026

Version 1.0.13

  • Start your second service while the first one is still being made. Both finish, and the one you started first is ready first.
  • Each clip now shows how far along it is, like "Rendering 64%".
  • The progress bar keeps moving while your clips are being made, so a long talk no longer looks stuck.

18 October 2026

Version 1.0.12

  • Trimming a clip keeps the framing it already had, instead of sometimes coming back cropped to the middle.
  • Clips from a sped-up talk now run straight into the end card, with no stutter where the two meet.
  • Finishing a clip is quicker, because the end card is joined on without being made again.
  • The caption preview on the Branding page now lays words out exactly as the website's does, line breaks and spacing included.

15 October 2026

Version 1.0.11

  • When an update is ready, the update window now lists what is new in it before you install.
  • See what's new, in Settings, now opens the app's own version history, so you see what changed in the app rather than on the website.

14 October 2026

Version 1.0.10

  • Livestream links (youtube.com/live/...) now work in the app, as they do on the website.
  • Signing out everywhere or changing your password on the website now signs the app out too, with one clear sign-in screen instead of a string of errors.
  • The app now checks your recording is still on your computer before working from it again, so a moved or deleted file is caught straight away instead of failing partway.
  • Clicking your email in the sidebar now asks before signing you out, and when your browser will not open you get a sign-in link you can copy.
  • Manage in browser opens your Plan and billing page, and error messages point to Support in the app. Windows no longer shows Mac words like this Mac or Press ⌘C.
  • On a team, only the owner changes the shared Branding, and the Mac installer is now notarised too, so it opens without a warning.

13 October 2026

Version 1.0.9

  • Branding in the app now matches the website: Captions, Video look and Your brand.
  • Your logos and outros are kept as libraries you can add to and switch between, right under the settings they belong to.
  • When a renewal payment has not gone through, the app says your talks open when it is paid, instead of promising a date.

5 October 2026

Version 1.0.8

  • Remove a word from your captions, or add a missing one, in the caption editor.
  • An outro saved without a sound track now appears at the end of clips made on your computer, with your music playing over it.

29 September 2026

Version 1.0.7

  • Trim and resume no longer say your recording is missing when it is right where you left it.
  • Plan and billing no longer shows a renewal date that has already passed.

28 September 2026

Version 1.0.6

  • Trimming a clip made on your computer no longer freezes the trim window. The clip shows its progress and the new version appears when it is ready.
  • If a trim on your computer stalls, it now tells you instead of waiting forever.

28 September 2026

Version 1.0.5

  • Sharper clips on a Mac: clips made on your Mac now match the quality of clips made on the website.
  • Questions that ask you to confirm, such as before deleting or resuming a run, now work on Mac as well as Windows.

28 September 2026

Version 1.0.4

  • On Windows, questions that ask you to confirm now appear. Before, actions like deleting or resuming a run silently did nothing.
  • Resuming a run that stopped now works on Windows, because it starts with one of those questions.

26 September 2026

Version 1.0.3

  • Windows PCs can now make clips themselves. Before, clips with Reduce background noise failed when they were saved to a second drive.
  • If making a clip on your computer stalls, the app hands it to our servers after 15 minutes instead of waiting forever.

26 September 2026

Version 1.0.2

  • Clips with Reduce background noise are now made on your own computer too, instead of being sent to our servers.
  • The Rendering progress no longer gets stuck when every clip is already in your library.

26 September 2026

Version 1.0.1

  • A computer that can make clips itself now does so reliably, instead of quietly sending the whole run to our servers.
  • Set how loud your music is: Subtle, Balanced or Bold, in Branding.
  • After a run from a file on your computer, the app sends a little footage either side of each clip, so you can trim or extend it later.
  • A long run no longer stays on its last clip when that clip has already finished.

25 September 2026

Version 1.0.0

  • ReelUse for Mac and Windows is now a free public beta, on the Downloads page.
  • Make clips from the original recording on your computer, with the same account, plan, brand kit and library as the website.
  • A capable computer makes the clips itself. When it cannot, those clips are made on our servers instead.
  • The app keeps itself up to date: it checks when it opens and every few hours.
  • On Windows, the first open may show a security prompt: choose More info, then Run anyway.
