Account, security and privacy

Signing in, keeping the account safe, and what happens to what you give us.

Signing in

Three ways, and you can use any of them on the same account:

  • An email link. Enter your email and we send a link that signs you in. No password to forget. Links are single use and expire, so an old one in your inbox is not a way in.
  • A password, if you have set one.
  • Google. Continue with Google and you land in the same account.

Linking them together. Sign in with an email link or your password first, then choose Google with the same address, and we connect the two to that one account rather than starting a second one. Your plan, clips and settings stay exactly where they are. We only link an identity when the email address matches, because that is the one thing we can check for ourselves.

New accounts confirm their email address first. If the confirmation has not arrived, check spam, then use Resend the link on the confirmation page rather than signing up a second time.

Passwords

All in Settings.

  • Set a password if you only use magic links and want a second way in.
  • Change it with your current one. Doing this signs out every other device and emails you, so a change you did not make is visible immediately.
  • Remove it and go back to magic links only. That is a legitimate choice, not a weaker one: there is no password to reuse or leak.

If something feels wrong

Sign out all devices, in Settings, ends every session everywhere, including the desktop app and this browser. It is the right first move if a laptop goes missing or a volunteer left with a signed-in machine. Then change your password if you have one.

Changing your email address sends a confirmation to the new address and a warning to the old one, so an address cannot be quietly moved out from under you.

Your details

Settings holds your name, organisation, role, country and timezone, and shows your plan and when you joined. The timezone is used for the emails we send you, and times inside the app follow whatever device you are looking at. There is one exception worth knowing: a read receipt in support chat shows the other person's local time, so a message marked Seen 14:05 (their local time) is telling you what their clock said, not yours.

Emails we send

KindCan you turn it off?
Sign-in links, email confirmations, security noticesNo. These are how the account works.
Your clips are ready; a run could not finishNo, these follow the work you asked for.
Clips are about to reach the end of their storage windowNo, and it would be unkind to: it is your warning to download them.
Billing: renewals, plan changes, a card about to expireNo.
Product updates and tipsYes, in Settings, under Preferences.

What we do with your content

To make clips we have to process the audio of your talk, keep the transcript, and store the clips we made. The transcript is kept even after clips are swept, which is what makes Run again possible later.

There is one setting worth understanding, in Settings under Preferences:

Help improve clip selection. On by default. It lets us use your transcripts and the clips made from them to improve which moments get picked. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising. Deleting your account removes content and direct identifiers; only de-identified quality and operational facts may remain. Turning this off costs you nothing and does not change your clips.

If your church handles sensitive pastoral material, or you record anything that was not meant to be public, turn it off. We would rather you did that than not use ReelUse.

Getting a copy of your data. Email support@reeluse.com from the address on your account and we will send you the personal data we hold about you, including your profile, your runs, the transcript we keep and any clips still in storage. A self-service export is coming. Until it lands, asking by email is the route, and we will tell you how long it will take.

The privacy policy is the full and binding version.

What happens to your chat messages

Messages you send us in the chat window are kept against your account so whoever answers can see what was already said, rather than starting from nothing every time. Anything you attach, a screenshot or a document, is stored the same way and can only be opened by you and by us.

There is no separate expiry on a conversation. It is kept for as long as your account exists, and deleting your account deletes it, along with the attachments. If you would like a conversation removed before then, or a copy of it, email support@reeluse.com and we will do it.

Members of our support team can read your conversation. Nobody else can, and it is never used for anything but answering you.

Deleting your account

At the bottom of Settings. You type your email address and confirm again, because it cannot be undone.

It removes your account, talks, transcripts, clips and direct identifiers from active systems. We may retain de-identified operational, quality, usage and accounting facts that cannot be returned to your account. Clips you have already downloaded are on your own machine and are unaffected.

If you only want to stop paying, cancel the subscription instead. That keeps your library and drops you to Free. Deleting is for when you want it all gone.
