Choose the section
Open the Choose the section chip under the link box. Drag the two handles to where the part you want starts and ends. Everything outside that stretch is ignored: it isn't transcribed or read, and no clip can come from it.
The handles, Section starts at and Section ends at, sit on a bar as long as your video. The line beneath them states the stretch you chose and how many videos from your allowance it uses. Once set, the chip shows the times you chose.
If the video's length can't be read, the preview says The video's length isn't known yet and the section control says Trimming opens once the video's length is known. Press Check again in the preview to try again, or make clips from the whole video.
Choose the section works on every plan, including Free. It works in the Mac and Windows app too, for a file or a link.
Why it makes better clips
Music, announcements and the welcome are fine in their place, but they aren't the message. When ReelUse reads only the message, every clip it picks is the best of the message.
When ReelUse finds it for you
If the video has YouTube chapters and one of them looks like the main message, ReelUse fills the section in as soon as you paste the link. A note names the chapter it used, so you can check it. Chapters with names like Sermon, Message, Teaching or The Word are the ones it picks up.
If the chapters can't be read, the section control says so. If the video has no chapters, nothing is filled in and the section is yours to set.
Drag either handle to change what ReelUse chose. Your choice always wins.
What a section saves
One video in your allowance covers up to 60 minutes. What counts is the section you chose, not the length of the whole video. So choosing the section can make a long service cost one video instead of three.
The note under the preview tells you what a run will cost before you start. A 95-minute video with no section chosen, for example:
Two length limits apply to the whole video, not to the section you chose:
- It has to be at least 5 minutes long. A shorter video is turned away before it uses your allowance.
- It can be at most 6 hours long. A longer video is turned away even if you chose a short section of it.
Before you start, check that the video itself is clean. A dropped frame, a lower third or a countdown in the video stays in your clips.

Moments: naming the part you want Growth and up
Moments tells ReelUse a part you want, and ReelUse looks for it. Open the Moments chip and describe, in plain words, a moment you know is in the video:
- the story about her first job
- the part about starting over
- the closing challenge
Clips that match come first in your list and carry the label Matches your request. The other clips follow in their usual order.
Write it the way you'd say it to a person. You don't need keywords or exact quotes. A sentence is enough, and there's room for a short paragraph if you have several parts in mind. Moments applies to this video only.
Clip length Starter and up
Open the Length chip to choose how long this video's clips can be:

Your choice is used for this video and saved as your default for the next one. Shorter clips can mean fewer of them, because some moments need more time to land.
On Free, the Length chip shows a lock and clips are Short, up to 4 from a video. The Mac and Windows app has the same Length chip on paid plans.
Using them together
Each one does a different job. Choose the section decides where ReelUse looks. Moments decides what it puts first inside that stretch. Length decides how long each clip can run.
On a long conference session, choose the section first, and add a Moments note only if you already know a part you want. On an ordinary single message, choosing the section is usually enough.
