What it is
On a paid plan, the app can make your clips on your own computer. The full recording stays there. In Settings you can see what your computer can do and turn this on or off.
If your computer cannot finish a clip, or takes more than 15 minutes over it, the app hands that clip to our servers and carries on, so you do not lose it. Each clip is labelled Made here or Cloud. The finished clip looks the same either way.
How to use it
- In the app, open Settings.
- Find Rendering.
- Read the line under the switch. It says what your computer can do and where your clips will be made.
- Turn Render clips on this computer on or off.
- After a run, look for Made here or Cloud on each clip.
Good to know
- The switch is on by default. On a computer that is not strong enough, it is off and cannot be turned on. A Windows PC needs at least 4 processor cores and enough memory; a Mac needs Apple Silicon.
- Even when your computer makes the clips, some things are sent to us: the audio of the part you analyze so it can be turned into text, your finished clips, and the footage around each clip so it can be trimmed later.
- When a clip is made on our servers, the short piece of video for that clip is sent up to make it.
Where to find it
ReelUse app, then Settings, then Rendering.
Plans: Making clips on your computer needs a paid plan (Starter and up). On the Free plan, clips are always made on our servers, whatever your computer can do.
